A daily newspaper that encourages children to read a little each day
'I read Daily7 every night before I go to bed. I like Rufus, he’s very funny.'
Chloe, aged 7, Hong Kong
What is it?
Daily7 is a print and digital newspaper for primary school students aged 5 to 8 years. It offers age appropriate, informative and educational reading material every day, from Monday to Saturday. The content is written and presented in such a way that children want to read and learn from it.
Who is it for?
Daily7 is for the early reader. This generally means ages 5 to 8 if they are native or fluent English speaking children. However, the simple, direct use of language means that many older children who are not native or fluent English speakers can also enjoy reading and learning from Daily7.
Why is it important?
Literacy experts agree that reading for 10 to 15 minutes a day is the best way to improve a child's reading ability and knowledge of a language. Daily7 offers children a newspaper they want to read and are keen to learn from.
What's in it?
- Current news that children find interesting. Topics range from tsunamis and children's rights to space exploration, animals and presidential elections.
- A visually appealing graphic illustration to expand on the topic.
- Good News and Bad News items from around the world.
- A dictionary to explain difficult words.
- A map of the world to highlight the places where the stories come from.
- Cartoons, jokes, games, reader contributions and Step-by-Step art, science and cooking projects.
