The United Nations, an international organisation, has announced that this year is the International Year of Biodiversity. They want people from all over the world to work together to help protect our environment and everything that lives in it.
A biodiverse world is important to humans because it gives us food, fuel, medicine, and other important things that help us to live. However, this world is in danger because of human activities. Scientists said that one in four species of animals and plants might disappear by 2050 if we do not do anything to protect them.
Many governments and organisations are now trying to help save the Earth by teaching people how to protect the environment.

Charlotte Aglionby aged 7, Kellett School, wrote this review on ’Pandemonium at School’ by Jeremy Strong.
This is a book about a class and their teacher, who is sick for a few weeks. The secretary in the office gets a supply teacher called Mrs Pandemonium!
In maths, Mrs Pandemonium asks one of the children one question and that is the end of maths. They make a heli-bike from their normal bikes for science.
And for cooking (which they weren’t supposed to be doing) they made Friendship Cake (and had a flood because they put in too much yeast). And Mr Shrapnell, their head, wanted Mrs Pandemonium to go back home so they could get another supply teacher who was sensible. But the children love Mrs Pandemonium because they didn’t think she was boring.
It is a really good and funny book.
Kim, aged 10, Japan
I am Kim and I live in Japan. I go to International School and I have lots of friends there. I like sports, especially gymnastics. On weekends, we go to the park and I like to play Xbox very much. I have a little brother who goes to kindergarten. He is only 3, so we don’t play much.
